Spectra Credit Union, Spectra Financial and the City of Estevan are pleased to announce that the name for the new civic auditorium has been selected, and will be known as Spectra Place.
In consideration for their long-term financial commitment to the new civic auditorium in the amount of $1 million, the City of Estevan granted Spectra the opportunity to provide the name for the new facility. The name was confirmed by the new civic auditorium committee in late June.
“Spectra is delighted to support the development of a multi-use facility that will benefit both the City of Estevan and its surrounding communities,” stated Tim Schroh, CEO of Spectra Credit Union.
Mayor Garry St. Onge added, “Our local credit union has a history of supporting the communities that they service. Therefore, it was not a surprise when Spectra Credit Union stepped forwarded with their contribution to this project, and we were thrilled to award the naming rights to them. Spectra Place is a great name and the City is so appreciative of the continued support of the business community for this new facility. Our thanks go out to the board, administration, staff and membership of Spectra Credit Union for their continued confidence in our city.”
Souris-Moose Mountain Member of Parliament, Ed Komarnicki noted that “This event centre will become a well known community centre and so it's most appropriate that a community minded organization such as Spectra Credit Union should name the centre to the mutual benefit of the citizens of the City of Estevan and Spectra Credit Union. Well done!”
Spectra Place will provide a 12 month – 365 day a year state of the art Ice and Indoor Sports/ Entertainment/Performing Arts Centre for the southeast, and is scheduled to open in January, 2011.

Dignitaries including Ed Komarnicki, MP of Souris-Mountain Member of Parliament, Garry St. Onge, Mayor of Estevan, Tim Schroh, CEO of Spectra Credit Union, along with representatives of New Arena Committe and the Board and Executive of Spectra Credit Union unveil the new name and logo for the new arena.
